2024-04-05 Rights of Persons with Disabilities

1) A member told me that, on Vancouver Island just over a month ago, BC Hydro left a message that electricity usage would be read differently, but that it would not affect our bills. There was no explanation and no further communication from BC Hydro. Her fear is that this might mean that her “opt-out” smeter might be activated so that the meter’s reading is no longer done manually.

2) Arthur Firstenberg has provided many comments about studies going back as far as the mid 1970s, many showing biological effects from exposure to extremely low levels. Still, the governments and agencies pretend there is no “conclusive” evidence of harm from EMFs. These, along with the footnotes, could be used as great references in letters

RADIO WAVES ARE HARMFUL, PERIOD!
Power level is irrelevant

Just one violin out of tune in an orchestra, or one voice off-key in a choir, will ruin a beautiful harmony, or an enchanting ensemble. It matters not how loudly it grates, or how softly; if it does not stop, the performance will come to an end.

So it is with the cells of our bodies, and of the birds, insects, animals and plants whose music fills the Earth. When a jarring note is introduced, no matter how softly, chords become discords, melody becomes noise, life degrades and disappears.”

3) This article is being circulated throughout the EU, asking for examples where these rights are not being accommodated. I suggest that people suffering from exposure to EMF/RFR have microwave sickness, currently called EHS. The question is: Do Canada and the USA recognize microwave sickness as a disability? The medical codes I found are for “radiation sickness” which is defined as exposure to high levels of ionizing radiation.

“The Convention’s overarching purpose is to “promote, protect, and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities, while fostering respect for their inherent dignity.” Countries that have ratified this Convention are obligated to facilitate the active participation of disabled individuals across all aspects of society. However, it has come to our attention that some countries may not have fully embraced its provisions or have only made minimal (zero?) efforts toward implementation.?

United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) is the first international, legally binding instrument setting minimum standards for rights of people with disabilities, and the first human rights convention to which the EU has become a party.

The UN Convention says that persons with disabilities have the same rights as everyone else. It also tells how countries can protect these rights.

“Canada ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in 2010.

The CRPD is an international human rights treaty aimed at protecting the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities without discrimination and on an equal basis with others.

Parties to the CPRD are required to promote and ensure the full enjoyment of human rights of persons with disabilities including full equality under the law.”

Microwave sickness defined:

“a condition of impaired health first reported in the Russian medical literature that is characterized by headaches, anxiety, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and difficulty in concentrating and by changes in the cardiovascular and central nervous systems and that is held to be caused by prolonged exposure to low-intensity microwave radiation”

4) An opinion piece re. the lawsuit Toronto school boards have brought against major social media companies. (see:                                   2) – https://citizensforsafertech.ca/2024-03-28-ontario-school-boards-sue-social-media-giants/) The schools have encouraged and, even, demanded that books and pencils be replaced by cell phones and laptops which are wireless, of course. Now they blame the companies for putting videos and games at students’ desks.

School boards are not innocent in the social-media crisis playing out in classrooms

“About a decade ago, classrooms began filling with laptops and iPads as educational leaders claimed that students needed to get on screens early to compete in the digitally connected future. Technology companies licked their chops as governments sang the praises of e-learning (and its cost-saving potential). Soon, the education system was hooked. In an era of ever larger class sizes and the aspirationally inclusive but perennially underfunded classroom, digital devices proved useful: Give a kid a screen, and chances are, they’ll be quiet.

Schools introduced bring-your-own-device programs to ensure there were enough to go around, despite mounting evidence that these devices were distracting learners, exacerbating bullying, and being used to play video games and access social media. A provincial directive issued in 2019 to restrict the use of cellphones in classrooms went largely ignored. Then, in 2021, the Toronto District School Board introduced a program that granted all students in Grade 5 and up their own Chromebook laptop. “When technology is pervasive, routinized and seamless, it facilitates and amplifies deep learning,” the TDSB argued at the time. Now that same school board is facing a “student body with significant attention, focus, and mental health concerns,” as its director of education Colleen Russell-Rawlins put it.”
