1) BC’s premier has announced that all school districts must have policies in place to limit use of cell phones for the next school year, but guidance seems to be lacking. For example, Vancouver’s School Board is going to require phones to be “on silent”. What does that mean? Will it be OK if the phone vibrates?

“In Vancouver, one measure being proposed would update schools’ codes of conduct for kids in Kindergarten through Grade 6 so that they “will be required to keep phones on silent and out of sight for the entire school day unless they get explicit permission from an educator,” according to the motion coming before the board.”

2) A church-affiliated school has endangered hundreds of children and staff by signing a contract that gives T-Mobile the right to add any number and type of antennae they wish. Telecoms target schools, churches and places like senior citizens homes because they know they need money. And once a contract is signed, the deed is done and difficult/impossible to undo.

School That Let T-Mobile Install 9 Cell Antennas Near Playground Locked Into 31-Year Contract

Rock Church and Academy’s contract with T-Mobile — which Buckley said she has seen but is not publicly available — stipulates that the telecom company pay the church roughly $4,000 a month for using its school property….
Buckley agreed. The contract includes a series of renewal periods — but only on the side of T-Mobile. “The 31st year of the contract is the first year the Rock can get out,” she said.
The contract also gives T-Mobile permission to change or increase the number and type of antenna without the Rock’s approval, Buckley said. “The antennas can become 5G at any time.”
