2024-04-26 60+ years since Silent Spring: Where are we now?

1) An interesting read for the weekend from Dr. Don Maisch about some of the many “advances” that have polluted our environment and the possible ramifications.

60+ years since Silent Spring: Where are we now? Endocrine-disrupting chemical exposures in early life, sexual identity and male fertility decline. Is there a connection?

“It was Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring, published in 1962, that launched the modern environmental movement, by drawing attention to evidence on the biological dangers of the widespread use of DDT and other pesticides. Informed by interviews with scientists and physicians with relevant experience,…

Research in Sweden in the early 1990s had found that chemical emissions were an important factor in electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) from electronic equipment. The research indicated that chemical exposures were possibly an initiating factor in EHS.”

2) It seems that there is no end of ideas for “smart” things. Now “smart” garbage bins. There is no information about wireless signals but that is what “smart” has come to mean. And if these things are sending wireless signals all day, the workers who empty them will be exposed through close contact,

The Feasibility of Deploying Solar-powered Smart-compacting Garbage and Recycling Bins on a Pilot Basis

“The purpose of this report is to provide Toronto City Council with feedback on the feasibility of piloting solar-powered smart-compacting garbage and recycling sidewalk litter bins in one or more Business Improvement Areas to study their effectiveness and possible future deployment throughout the city…

The sensors electronically detect the fullness of the bins and relay when the bins are at or near capacity.”

3) Calling all people on Vancouver Island who suffer from EHS:

“The Human Rights Tribunal has accepted an Electro hypersensitivity (EHS) case for a woman on Vancouver Island. In preparation for her case, she is compiling a list of numbers of how many people on Vancouver Island have Electrohypersensativity (EHS). You don’t need to have a formal diagnosis; if you feel unwell around wireless technology and/or electromagnetic fields and get better in the absence of them, you can identify yourself as EHS. If you are EHS, please contact:

VISafeTechAlliance@proton.me with ‘EHS‘ in the subject line. We just need to hear from you and the general area of the Island in which you reside.”

4) Mark your calendars for the next C4ST Open Meeting.
