1) Katie Singer shares a very thought-provoking article in which she explains and ponders the Precautionary Principle given the many threats we face today.
While facing existential threats, what do precautionary actions look like?
“In 1998 Carolyn Raffensperger (Dr. Raffensperger’s daughter), an attorney and director of the Science and Environmental Health Network, co-convened a group of 26 scientists, breast cancer activists, farmers and attorneys. A representative from Greenpeace and a Republican sat side-by-side. Over a weekend, this group drafted the Wingspread Statement on the Precautionary Principle. They identified four guidelines for environmental decision-making even if some cause-and-effect relationships are not fully established scientifically:
1. In the face of uncertainty, act preventatively.

2) Although initial studies showed evidence of brain trauma, no sign of injury was detected in recent studies. But people are still suffering, perhaps similar to EHS.
No evidence of Havana syndrome brain injury, US studies find
“A U.S. government research team found no significant physical evidence of brain injury in a group of federal employees suffering symptoms of the “Havana syndrome” ailment that emerged in 2016, according to studies published in a medical journal on Monday….
Mark Zaid, a Washington-based lawyer who has represented Havana sufferers, said the findings of no significant medical differences between the two populations after time had passed “do nothing to undermine the theory that a foreign adversary is harming U.S. personnel and their families with a form of directed energy.”…
NIH researchers did find that more than a quarter of patients reporting symptoms developed a chronic condition called persistent postural-perceptual dizziness. They also reported significantly increased symptoms of fatigue, post-traumatic stress and depression, compared to the control group.”
3) Another example of future phone service, or lack thereof. [i.e. land lines].

Seniors struggle with loss of landlines as phone companies end copper service
“Retirement home resident has had no phone for 5 weeks…
It’s the result of an FCC order in August 2022, which states that local phone companies are no longer required to provide or support landlines…
Phone and cable companies like AltaFiber and Spectrum, meantime, now offer voice over internet (VOIP) phones as landline replacements, and the FCC requires them to give locations to 9-1-1.
