2024-02-09 Hospitals may “need” 5G networks

1) Jean Hudon, a friend and colleague in Quebec, always has interesting information and commentary on facebook. Here is an example from Dec. 2023:

2) A hospital visit or stay will become more hazardous and impossible for those who are sensitive if this plan becomes popular. 5G will not replace the current Wi-Fi which will become “back-up”.

Hospital CIOs Weigh 5G as Digitized Medicine Pushes Wi-Fi to Its Limits

“A profusion of connected devices and data-intensive processes in healthcare is forcing hospital CIOs to evaluate alternatives to their existing Wi-Fi networks, which are pushing ever closer to their limits….

Taking a page from newly automated warehouses and factories, some hospital CIOs are testing and evaluating private networks that run on high-speed 5G wireless cellular technology and other hybrid private-public 5G systems, which they say could be expanded more quickly across hospital campuses than traditional Wi-Fi.”

3) The US isn’t the only target of Chinese hackers but it is a prime one. Canada must be especially aware because many of our infrastructure networks are co-mingled or interdependent. It could be that an attack on a US grid could affect us as well.

Chinese Hackers Penetrated Dutch Defense Network

“Chinese state-backed attackers hacked into a Dutch defense network last year and gained persistent access, the Netherlands has acknowledged.

“It is important to ensure that espionage activities of this nature committed by China become public knowledge since this will help to increase international resilience to this type of cyber espionage,” Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren said on Feb. 6.”

4) Below in Letters is a description of an interaction with Telus, which could make one wonder if the installers are being incentivized to encourage/require Wi-Fi vs. wired connections. As installers work to eliminate the copper-based landlines, the pressure to allow wireless will increase.

Subject: Why is Telus forcing wireless

“Over the last while I have helped some people reduce the amount of Telus wireless in their house. Interesting that each time when Telus arrives to do their part they first try and increase the amount of WiFi in the house. I later have come to the conclusion that if a large company tries to force me to do something I can be certain it will not be in my best interest. Question: why do some Telus installers lie and try and force the residents to accept more radiation even when the exiting WiFi network is working let alone the request to have it removed?

Today the installer arrived an hour earlier and confirmed the computer was wired to the modem (15 min. tops); for that, the home owner had had to pay over $250 in advance to get them there – sincerely doubt there has ever been a problem with her paying i.e. almost certain a good credit rating.

She is thinking of not using her TV and does not need it connected, without a few feet of wire she does need to use WiFi to connect the TV but his complex solution to give her a wired TV was a very expensive and complex solution clearly intended to pressure her into not making it a wired only connection, The question then becomes why are they so determined to force wireless into people’s homes (doubt you can answer that without disappearing down rabbit hole conspiracy theories).

When I got there he insisted on saying one needs wireless to connect to the internet even though he knew her computer was Ethernet connected. When he demonstrated repeatedly his refusal to deal with the issue, I asked him to contact his supervisor to find out if one MUST have WiFi to connect to the internet he got mad and stormed out.

The previous installers I have dealt with have been good with 2 of them fully understanding no wireless and doing their best to reduce it as much as possible, A third said it was out of his skill/Telus Remit and did little but did a bit within his ability to fix the problems.

Today the installer was very difficult and did nothing to reduce the radiation, even suggested he had been installing for Telus for 3 years and had not heard of concerns with radiation and was more interested in stomping over homeowner concerns than fixing their concerns.”
