2024-01-29 BC to restrict cell phones in schools

1) Below in Letters is an update on the upcoming federal court hearing regarding the Rogers Tower on Salt Spring Island that will take place on Thursday, Feb. 1. This hearing has resulted from a lot of time and hard work by several people, and could benefit many. You are invited to attend in person or virtually.

2) For so many reasons, many who know RF radiation is dangerous are having to get and use cell phones. Below in Letters is some extremely important information that could help reduce RF emissions from cell phones. I would like to add one suggestion to the great list of things that can make using/being around a cell phone safer. When you have to speak on one, use a headset. There are many but here is one that is highly rated and inexpensive.

3) There are so many reasons young people should not have cellphones, and no matter which results in less RF exposure, it is making lives safer. Hopefully, parents will follow this by ensuring cellphones are restricted at homes.

B.C. to restrict cellphones in schools in effort to protect kids from online harm

“British Columbia is moving to restrict the use of cellphones in schools as part of measures Premier David Eby says will help protect young people from online threats….

A statement from the province said all schools would have policies in place to restrict students’ classroom cellphone use by the start of the next school year.

It said it would work with school districts to make sure that happens.”

Subject: Federal Court Hearing for Rogers Salt Spring Tower this Thurs Feb 1- How to Attend

Hi Everyone,

This is a last reminder, and a first invite for some of our wireless activists from across the country, with info on how to attend this coming Thursday, February 1st’s Federal Court Judicial Review Hearing on the Rogers Channel Ridge cell tower now operational on Salt Spring Island.

Julian Clark will present what we believe is a very strong case. Anyone fighting cell towers in their communities may find the way we have leaned on the importance of telecoms adhering to existing tower siting regulations of help.

I know not everyone has the time or inclination to watch legal proceedings on a screen (unless you are a secret Judge Judy fan : ) but any positive thoughts you can send, supporting Julian as he states a series of complex truths, and paving the way for the judge to listen and rule with impartiality, fairness and clarity would be so appreciated. May justice prevail!!

Info for attending virtually or in person in Vancouver is below. You must register to attend online by Tuesday evening,

Warmly,
Oona

1. The Hearing

Date: Thursday, February 1, 2024

Where: Pacific Centre – 3rd Floor, 701 Georgia Street West, Vancouver

Time: Starts at 9:30am – until 4:30pm.

To find the Hearing, Click the “Western” region button, and then put “Julian ” (without quotation marks) in the search box.
Push the icon button next to our Hearing and a box will open that you must complete. All you have to provide is your name and a valid email address. As the hearing date nears, the court will send you a link.

This is the preferred method to attend for those of you that are boisterous – you can yell and swear as much as you like whereever you may be watching from!

Attempts to reduce cell phone emissions

Due to upgrades in hardware and software over the years, and ongoing, it is often now not sufficient to put a mobile phone (or other wireless device) into Airplane mode to halt all harmful, skin- and body-penetrating radiation (which usually can also penetrate into or through building materials and other solids). All the steps below are now necessary steps to try to halt all RF emissions (and this is not any guarantee that these steps are sufficient). An additional step could be to put the phone inside a faraday bag/case (again no guarantee of perfection); and we caution that some persons cannot touch nor be near the material that comprises such bags/cases, not even when there is no device inside the bag/case.

Step 1: turn on Airplane mode
Step 2: then manually check Wi-Fi is off
Step 3: then manually check Bluetooth is off
Step 4: then manually check Data Services are off
Step 5: then manually check Locators are off
Step 6: then manually check Hot Spot is off
Step 7: then manually check that any other wireless functionality is off
Step 8: AND THEN power off the phone/device and distance it from you while it goes through its shutdown procedures.

NOTES:

– Yes, in the above steps the first step is to turn on Airplane mode even though subsequently there’s a step to entirely power off the phone. Yes, all Steps 1 through 7 are required before powering off the phone.

– Despite all these steps (even with the power off), the Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth may turn itself on after a short time, and it might do this repeatedly; therefore do whatever it takes to notice how often your mobile phone/wireless device might do this, so that you will know how often you need to manually check and re-disable the Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth and of course again each time also do the final step of powering off the phone/device. There might be default settings that you can change in your phone/device so that these functions cannot automatically turn on after you have turned them off; if you cannot find the settings, ask the manufacturer of your device; if there are no such settings, consider making a customer request/complaint to the manufacturer by indicating that you do want that capability and insist that it be made available. If the manufacturer receives enough complaints/requests/demands, the manufacturer might during a software update or patch, or built into new models of phones/devices, include a new setting or default so that a user can achieve more radiation-offness or can more easily and quickly achieve radiation-offness. It’s important to NOT settle for needlessly putting this radiation into you, anyone else, pets, and environments as firsthand and secondhand radiation exposures.

IMPORTANT:

Many functions of your phone/device do not require any wireless connectivity. You can learn how to Power On your mobile phone/wireless device with it remaining in Airplane mode with (hopefully) all the wireless radiation functions off and use functions such as alarm clock, cameras, listening to pre-downloaded music/podcasts/books, movies, etc., connect via cord to upload/download/stream/have an Internet (online) connection (yes, with Wi-Fi remaining off). AND you can help other people learn how to do such functions without spewing wireless radiation and encourage them to help other people learn and do this too.

Whenever you intend to power on a phone or other wireless device, and whenever you intend to turn off Airplane mode, plan to subsequently immediately distance your device from yourself and other people while it is re-establishing its wireless connectivity and gathering any messages and notifications from the network. During this time, radiation levels will be very high.

Prefer, request, and provide corded non-wireless connectivity. For times when you must use some type of wireless network connection, you can easily learn how to turn on ONLY the one type of radiation-generating function you will use (instead of ALL the other radiation functions in your phone/device needlessly also generating radiation emissions). Plan to be emitting radiation for only a very brief time. And then after you complete your contact, you can again do the step of turning off the radiation-generating function you were using, then power off. AND again: you can help other people learn and encourage this habit.

PracticeSafeTech and e-Hygiene so that you are not generating a wireless radiation footprint that firsthand and secondhand fills you, other people, pets, and all indoor and outdoor places with harmful wireless radiation.
