1) Another section of the radiofrequency spectrum that belongs to all of us was just auctioned off by ISED resulting in 4099 licenses sold for $2,157,696,532. This is a prime example of a conflict of interest and explains why the wireless industry is expanding virtually like a cancer. Why would ISED or Health Canada acknowledge the harm being done to all living things when doing so would affect their bottom line? There is a rush for the telecoms to get wireless 5G to the rural communities before fiber optic cable reaches every home.
Profit at all costs, even the health of our planet.
3800 MHz auction – Process and results
“The 3800 MHz auction is a key milestone in the Government of Canada’s plan to encourage competition for wireless services, improve rural connectivity and ensure the effective deployment of 5G technologies. The increased number of connections and data-intensive applications expected with 5G will require large amounts of spectrum in a variety of frequency bands. In Canada, the 3800 MHz band has historically been used to provide fixed wireless Internet services, but in the past few years, it has been globally recognized as key for 5G networks because it provides both coverage and capacity for a wide array of new applications, as well as for rural connectivity.”

News release
“More spectrum made available through the 3800 MHz spectrum auction will mean faster rollout of 5G services and improved rural connectivity
November 30, 2023 – Ottawa, Ontario
In total, 4,099 licences were awarded to 20 Canadian bidders, including 870 licences to small and regional providers across the country.
– The vast majority of licences were allocated (95%), including licences in all rural and remote service areas, to companies that will provide mobile coverage and/or fixed wireless services to consumers across Canada.
– This represents the most commercial mobile spectrum ever auctioned in Canada.
– Licences include strong deployment obligations that require companies to “use or lose” the spectrum within ambitious timelines.”
2) SpaceX is being paid billions of US dollars and is allowed to ignore safety regulations here on earth. What does this mean for the hundreds (thousands?) of satellites orbiting the earth? Companies are planning on adding more as quickly as possible with no apparent concern over health or environmental effects.

At SpaceX, worker injuries soar in Elon Musk’s rush to Mars
“The lax safety culture, more than a dozen current and former employees said, stems in part from Musk’s disdain for perceived bureaucracy and a belief inside SpaceX that it’s leading an urgent quest to create a refuge in space from a dying Earth.
“Elon’s concept that SpaceX is on this mission to go to Mars as fast as possible and save humanity permeates every part of the company,” said Tom Moline, a former SpaceX senior avionics engineer who was among a group of employees fired after raising workplace complaints. “The company justifies casting aside anything that could stand in the way of accomplishing that goal, including worker safety.”

Here is a PowerPoint presentation that Nina Beety gave before the California Coastal Commission a couple of weeks ago on SpaceX. She focused on non-wireless environmental effects.
