1) Experts have warned that pregnant women are among those most vulnerable to RF radiation, along with children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. This analysis of available date concludes that both the expectant mother and the foetus are endangered.
Electromagnetic Field Exposure and Abortion in Pregnant Women: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
“Studies on pregnant women have shown that EMF emitted from microwaves, mobile phones and the internet can reduce amniotic fluid and increase the risk of abortion and death. Exposure to EMF can also have adverse effects on the growth and health of the foetus and can cause an increase in the volume, weight and atresia follicles in ovaries of children.”

2) Industry is attempting to improve speed and reliability but it admits wireless can never be as fast, reliable or secure as fiber optic cable. The problem is cost — at least in older grids. Cost is not a factor in new developments and should not inhibit FoC. The problem will be that those without fibre will want it once they learn what they are missing.
Big Cable Betting on DOCSIS 4.0 to be Good Enough
“The biggest cable companies are betting that the latest iteration of DOCSIS technology will be sufficient to compete against fiber and XGS-PON, protecting their large legacy investment in coax plant and enabling a product that will be good enough to ward off near-term threats to their established broadband business.
“Anyone would be on pretty solid ground for arguing that fiber is the right way to go if you’re building a brand new network,” said Paul Connolly, Telecom and Networks Practice Leader, Entropy, Inc. “There’s no question for unlimited bandwidth, simplicity in electronics, cheap operation, etc. But we’re in this transition where much of the entire country has hybrid fiber coax in the ground. We have to understand from a cost point of view, do we think that we’re going to rebuild the entire network with fiber and if so, when? That’s the real issue.””

Subject: Time sensitive – Proposed Smart Water Meters – please register by Noon Monday, Nov 13 to delegate for Tues Nov 14 meeting and send your Councillor an email
Hello Winnipeggers concerned about the proposed purchase of smart water meters.
The Executive Policy Committee will be considering the Public Service Report for the purchase of smart water meters on Tuesday Nov 14th – meeting starts at 9:30 am but I’m not sure how soon this item will be considered.
Please consider delegating and submitting a written submission (by noon Monday, Nov. 13) AND writing to the Mayor and all Councillors to voice your opposition. I would appreciate being forwarded what you submit and any responses.
Submission form to delegate (to present) and provide written comments – Latest is Monday, Nov 13 NOON.
I think you will have 10 minutes but you don’t have to use it all.

ALSO send to all the city councillors (especially those on the Executive Policy Committee and your Councillor) AND be sure to email the Mayor.
Points to make:
– This $ 135 Million project should not go forward until the report from Diameter Services is made public. The Public Report submitted does not have enough information regarding what the emissions from these meters will be like – will they emit all of the time and send out signals occasionally? What is the cost of the IT components?
I’ll have a template to send out this week-end but it is okay to send a short email now and followup with more questions later.
Ask that this item be suspended until the Diameter Report is available to Councillors and the public for examination and comment.
As it stands now, it seems no one at City Hall, including the public service, knows the details of what we will be getting for $135 million. We need more details.

ps FYI. Here is the slide deck I used at the Water and Waste meeting. https://citizensforsafertech.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/City-of-Winnipeg-Water-Meter-Renewal-Concerns-about-Health-Liability-and-Opt-out-Provisions-by-Margaret-Friesen-M.Sc_.-EHA-MB-October-30-2023.pdf
I’m going to be tied up for the next few days. It would be helpful if some of you viewed the meeting video, especially the discussion after the presentations and send me your comments.

From Sharon: As an aside, here is what I presented to the Winnipeg Water and Waste Committee. Presenters were given only 10 min. which means there was a whole lot more I could have told them.
