1) Major faults have been identified in designs of 5G infrastructure (small cells included) that could cause major fires, and the telecoms are refusing to follow protocol in Malibu, California. They are refusing to provide engineering documents that relate to safety inspections. I suspect that the 5G designs and cells here have not been inspected either — the smeters weren’t. We need to follow up on this. With our dry conditions we need to take every precaution to prevent fires.

Malibu City Officials Accused of ‘Disturbing’ Deceit Over 5G Fire Safety Measures
Malibu residents accused upper-level city staff of failing to enforce a city council mandate requiring T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T to include safety-related engineering documents in their 5G infrastructure permit applications. The city has a history of devastating fires traced to malfunctioning telecom equipment.
Residents of Malibu, California, are accusing upper-level city staff of deceit, claiming that for months the staff members hid the fact that they failed to enforce a city council mandate requiring T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T to include eight safety-related engineering documents in their 5G infrastructure permit applications….
McCollough told The Defender he and Anderson also identified faulty design issues in some of the proposed projects that “present significant fire risks because of a mismatch between load, connectors and breakers.”
“Stated simply, the fuses are too big for the wiring, so more load can be put on the wires than they are designed to handle. This excessive load causes the wiring to overheat. This leads to failure and a fire,” McCollough said…
McCollough said Malibu’s failure to apply the protocol suggests that many small cells and towers already in existence in Malibu use a faulty safety design.”

2) A letter published in a Massachusetts newspaper from someone regarding the risks of having smeters that were documented to their utility commission and ignored, just as has happened in many jurisdictions throughout North America, including BC.
Just say NO to RI Energy’s AMF Plan (Redux)
“… The Commissioners made this decision in spite of receiving extensive public testimony describing the predictable harm from large scale deployment of this infrastructure. “Smart” Meters continuously emit pulsed/modulated radiofrequency/microwave radiation, which has negative biological effects. “Smart” Meters cause fires and property damage, as well as have privacy and security risks. These risks were expertly documented in the public comments submitted to the RI PUC.”

Interestingly, in this letter she mentions that Chattanooga, TN uses fiber optic cable for metering purposes. Here is a video of a Town Hall meeting in New York City that discusses the success of fiber, to and through homes. I have not watched it yet but I do know that the Fiber Broadband Association is progressing steadily in the US.
In BC, fiber is being brought to most areas to support the 5G infrastructure — and would provide far better, safer and less expensive metering than smeters ever could.

Subject: Update and ACTION ITEM re proposed Ellenor Road tower, Comox Valley
Hi everyone,
As you know, contrary to what we thought after the powerful presentations the VISTA delegation gave at the CVRD meeting on March 6, 2023 and the tremendous community turnout, the CVRD did not grant a letter of non-concurrency to the proposed 1388 Ellenor Road tower. Instead, the CVRD Planning Services in their Staff Report recommended the CVRD grant a letter of concurrence and they recommended placing 4 conditions:
- public health concerns be addressed;
- K’ómoks First Nation be engaged regarding the possible need for a Cultural Heritage Investigation Permit;
- a Qualified Environmental Professional be involved to mitigate environmental impacts; and
- that Telus further explore siting the tower in the northeastern corner of the property per comments from the Advisory Planning Commissions and Parks department.
We have been told that these are not conditions that have to be met in order for a letter of concurrence to be supported or granted. Rather, these conditions were included in staff’s recommendation to encourage the federal government ensure those points are considered prior to issuing formal approval for the project.
We have just learned from CVRD Planner Dylan Thiessen that the proponent has relocated the proposed siting for the tower based on a biophysical assessment from the eastern lot line to the south end of the property (this map shows old location in white and new location in orange https://citizensforsafertech.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/CVRD-Planning-New-Recommended-and-Original-Proposed-Locations-of-Telus-Cell-Tower-1388-Ellenor-Road-Comox.png). Dylan said he believed the 30-day comment period has since closed, though you can still submit comments to CVRD staff and elected officials. The next step will be for Telus to submit a formal request for a letter of concurrence, which has not yet happened, so there is no timeframe for when the proposal will go to a vote. The earliest meeting it could go to would be early December, though it may not go until the new year.
When asked about what has been done to ‘address public health concerns’, we were told that Telus/SitePath Consulting have been responding to concerns. But we know that no health concerns are being addressed. The reply we always get is that Safety Code 6 will be complied with. And ISED’s protocol CPC-2-0-03 (Section 4.2) does not allow SitePath to address any health concerns (even if they had the expertise to do so, which they don’t) because health concerns are deemed “not relevant”. https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/spectrum-management-telecommunications/en/learn-more/key-documents/procedures/client-procedures-circulars-cpc/cpc-2-0-03-radiocommunication-and-broadcasting-antenna-systems
Please write to the CVRD directors and tell them that you are opposed to cell towers on Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) land (if that’s your position). You can write up until they meet and vote:
