2023-08-16 A need for Antenna Siting Policy

1) Interesting new website by a US group that has a lot of good information ranging from scientific studies to smeters to AI.

2) A battle is occurring in Ontario in a community where Rogers has been granted the right to erect a tower within 100 meters of homes. The key to this situation is that there should have been an Antenna Siting Policy to prevent towers so close to homes. Right now this provides the best protection.  Unfortunately, this community doesn’t have one.

There is great information available to help write such a policy:

Carlow Mayo council votes to concur with proposed Kuno Road cell tower

“Carlow Mayo council voted to concur with the proposed Rogers cell tower on Kuno Road at their meeting on Aug. 8. Despite Kuno Road residents’ concerns and objections to the potential health effects of being under 400 metres to the proposed cell tower, council decided, as it was under federal jurisdiction and they are only to consider the site’s feasibility with respect to land use planning matters, to concur with the cell tower’s present proposed site on Kuno Road.”

I cannot send updates to those people with Shaw email addresses and, unfortunately, neither am I receiving mailings from groups across Canada and the USA with whom I share and obtain information each day. So far, Shaw has been totally useless in providing either an explanation or help. I was told each person who is being blocked must call Shaw and complain. Not only do these people not know they are being blocked, but even if they did, how many will wait on hold for an hour or more to speak to a person — as I had to do. I never got an answer when I asked why my husband didn’t get my update. Instead, the line was disconnected (aka they hung up).

Please share this information with friends who might be missing updates. Unless I mail each individual (several hundred) an email explaining things, they might think I’ve just stopped sending updates. Shaw seems to be the only provider taking such draconian action right now. I will continue to seek redress. If Shaw is unwilling to be reasonable, a few cancellations might send them a message.

If you are concerned that news is not available via group emails, even from non-profit advocacy groups like ours, you might write your local newspaper or to Narwhal, for example. Sarah Cox, one of the reporters, did a great job keeping us informed about the government’s fumbling with Site C.
