1) This is not related to EMF but it is related to Health Canada’s failure to do its job, which is to follow science to protect Canadians. As with EMF, Health Canada has known for many years that exposure to asbestos from any source is dangerous, that asbestos is a carcinogen. Yet Health Canada is doing nothing. Asbestos is found in drinking water in Canada.

“Asbestos contamination is not regulated or monitored, because Health Canada’s outdated asbestos technical document (1989) states that there is “no consistent, convincing evidence of health effects from exposure through drinking water.”” (sound familiar?)

Unlike the U.S., Canada does not regulate asbestos in drinking water. Canadians are somewhat protected against airborne asbestos, but many residents drink contaminated water supplied via deteriorating asbestos cement pipes. The International Agency for Research on Cancer states that all forms of asbestos are known human carcinogens, causing “mesothelioma and cancer of the lung, larynx, and ovary. Also positive associations have been observed between exposure to all forms of asbestos and cancer of the pharynx, stomach, and colorectum.”
