2021-09-23 Physicians for the Environment, yes please

The featured speaker is an Ontario environmental lawyer. This is hosted by Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE), an organization that some of us have been hoping to get onboard regarding electromagnetic pollution in regard to health and the environment.

We could attend to learn about what principles, facts, and needs inspire action by environmental lawyers and public health experts who are avidly interested in improving environmental health. Perhaps there will be opportunities to interact with the speakers, including about how electrosmog factors into their expressed interests, harm reduction, and sustainability.

Free registration provides you with a zoom link via email. Here are details in the webinar’s description:

Obviously I’m not happy about anyone’s illnesses or injuries! Nevertheless, are congratulations due to these diplomats and officials? Many of us, as the expression goes, “know the drill” regarding recognition of microwave illness(es), and this U.S. bill is passed after about five years of effort. We feel their pain—both literally and figuratively!

Here are a some excerpts from a recent news article:

–  The government’s leading theory is that the Americans were hit by directed microwave energy, which a National Academies of Science report said last year was consistent with observed brain injuries.

–  The first incidents of the syndrome “medically confirmed” by the U.S. government were in Havana in 2016 and 2017.

– The U.S. later evacuated diplomats from China and confirmed that at least one American serving there was affected.

–  In recent years, reports of cases have proliferated, with potential incidents cropping up on every continent except Antarctica.

– More recently, U.S. officials have noticed an alarming increase in cases in Western Europe, some of them in NATO allies Austria and Germany, officials have said.

– Many U.S. workers thought to be suffering from Havana Syndrome reported hearing a loud sound and feeling pressure in their heads. In some cases, they experienced dizziness, unsteady gait and visual disturbances. Many suffered long-term debilitating effects.

For years, those who have come forward reporting potential Havana Syndrome have complained about immense bureaucratic hurdles to getting proper medical care. They have also faulted a workers’ compensation system that they say failed them because it was not designed to address invisible brain attacks or to account for the types of amorphous cognitive, neurological and physical symptoms experienced by those with Havana Syndrome.

The headline is.

An I.T. company’s news blog post states:

The rollout of fibre across the UK has taken longer than anticipated but now BT Openreach has announced that 2026 is when they will start to close the copper network; they are going to have to work very hard to complete the implementation.

BT’ is ‘British Telecom.’ The article is nicely organized into chunks of explanation about various types of connections, and I found it easier to understand than usual. I learned new things from reading this article. Every detail would not necessarily be the same outside the U.K. but likely similar. Near the end of the article there’s a brief mention of how some businesses will manage to, in a way, keep their wireline systems.

BT Openreach Are Shutting Down The Copper Wire Telephone Network. What Does This Mean For You And Your Business?

If you live in the U.S. you might want to comment following the instructions (in brief below) about the impact of the loss of Residential Local Service in California.  As another member said, if this initiative goes through in California then it will almost certainly go to all other U.S. States and Canada. And of course there would be similar plans elsewhere (as you’ve seen above about the U.K.).

Application “To Discontinue AT&T Residential Local Service in California”:

This happens, or will happen, in more places than California.
